Mumbai has already felt its first kiss of monsoons. Heavy rains, which could either make your day or ruin it (depends on you), are on their way. The dry streets of Mumbai will soon lose their dusty look. Those who have experienced Mumbai monsoons will certainly agree that rains here are absolutely amazing. Even those who crib about the rains as they get drenched while en route to office or for other odd reasons won’t deny that Mumbai looks picturesque during monsoons. Anyway, if it’s your first time in Mumbai, here are 11 clichéd but fun things you must certainly do during Mumbai monsoons. If you have lived here for a few years or all through your life, we’re sure you have ticked off this list by now, and wouldn’t mind repeating it. So, have fun Mumbaikars!

1. Drive to Lonavala

A long drive to Lonavala is a must during monsoons! And then, pull the car at Tiger Point to enjoy delicious pakoras and tea. A lot of people head to Bushy dam too, and you must too, if you love water!

2. Watch the water at Marine Drive

Watching the waves hit the sea rocks at Marine Drive, as the clouds come pouring down, is a sight to die for, in Mumbai.

3. Play football at Oval Maidan

Who doesn’t like getting dirty while it rains, right? We mean, getting covered in mud while playing football and Oval Maidan is a perfect spot!

4. Eat bhutta at Bandstand

Roasted corn, or as we call it bhutta, perfectly flavored with lemon and spices tastes delicious when it rains. It’s even better if you eat it at Bandstand. What a view!

5. Take a stroll at Worli sea-face with friends

Walking and dancing with friends at Worli sea-face is one of the most fun things to do in Mumbai monsoons. Be sure you check this off your list!

6. Drive to Karjat only to eat Vada Pav

We aren’t kidding. The vada pav at Karjat is totally worth it. And the scenic beauty of this place reaches a different level altogether during rainy season.

7. Indulge in some chai-pakora and gossip at Juhu

Juhu beach can be really crowded, yes. But there’s no denying that it’s a hot spot when it rains. So, head to Juhu, eat some pakoras with tea and spend the evening giggling and gossiping with friends!

8. Roam in a cab all over the city

This one could be a lil tough, especially on a rainy day. However, spend some time convincing a cabbie and then take a ride all over Mumbai, as you watch the rains from the cab’s window. You can start from Gateway of India, head to Chowpatty and then to Juhu. Make sure you load your bags with enough snacks!

9. Get sloshed at Bay View Café

Bay View Café at Colaba offers the best view of the Mumbai harbor, and is easy on the pocket, as compared to the other restaurants around. One can enjoy the monsoons while sipping on beer with yummy food here! Post that, you can take a boat ride across Bombay harbor!

10. Hot chocolate at Theobrama

Hot chocolate on a rainy day totally makes it a perfect day, don’t you agree? Either, sip onto hot chocolate at home sitting by the window, or head to Theobroma at Colaba or the nearest pretty café, for a cup of hot chocolate!

11. Dance like no one’s watching

This is the easiest and the best way to enjoy Mumbai monsoons. Dance to your heart’s glory. You will feel ten times lighter once you are done. Mumbai rains have a special power to wash away all the gloom.
